About Phomemo
Phomemo designs and manufactures portable thermal label makers and printers, growing from a team of 50 to more than 2,000 employees across seven manufacturing plants. By the company's own count, it has sold more than 6.85 million machines in 197 countries as of 2023, with a lineup spanning home label makers, shipping and thermal label printers, mini pocket printers, tattoo stencil printers, and A4 portable printers.
Phomemo's engineering focus is on making printers smaller without giving up capability, a problem the company describes as harder than scaling up. That shows in the two models on our labeling roundups: the D30 label maker and the 241BT thermal printer, both cordless, inkless designs built around direct-thermal printing that skips ink cartridges and ribbons entirely. The company markets that inkless approach as dust-free and safer for classroom and household use, and its design work has drawn outside recognition, including a Red Dot Award for product design in 2025.

Why we recognized Phomemo
The DeskRated Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose products consistently stand out in our hands-on category reviews. Phomemo earned it on the strength of the products below, evaluated the same way every product on this site is: bought, used at a real desk, and judged on merit.
Phomemo products we rated highly
Phomemo D30 Bluetooth Label Maker
In our testing, the D30 carried over 25,000 verified reviews on Amazon, the largest review pool of any Bluetooth-only label maker we've reviewed. Its continuous roll printing produces variable-length labels, from single-word tags to multi-line address labels, all from the same roll, and it recharges over Micro-USB with the Phomemo app's 300+ templates covering standard home-organization needs. Its pocket-sized body is the smallest of the label makers on our list.

Phomemo 241BT Bluetooth Thermal Label Printer
In our testing, the 241BT supported the widest labels of any thermal printer we reviewed, at 4.6 inches, handling oversized and non-standard label formats that narrower printers can't accommodate. At 1.59 pounds it was also the lightest model on our list, genuinely portable for sellers who pack and ship from more than one location. Its OS compatibility is the broadest we found in its price tier, covering Windows, macOS, Linux, Chrome OS, iOS, and Android from a single device, and the companion Labelife app adds a Chrome browser extension for printing straight from a browser.
