About Fujitsu
Fujitsu built its first image scanners in the early 1980s, and in 2001 it spun the business into a dedicated subsidiary, PFU Limited, founded in 1960 and headquartered in Kahoku, Ishikawa, Japan. For more than two decades PFU engineered the ScanSnap and fi Series scanner lines under license to the Fujitsu brand, building it into the largest enterprise image-scanner maker in the world by unit share.
Ownership has since changed hands: Ricoh acquired an 80% stake in PFU from Fujitsu in April 2022, and PFU began rebranding its scanner lineup from Fujitsu to Ricoh in April 2023, though it kept the ScanSnap product name itself. Ricoh completed the acquisition in March 2025, buying out Fujitsu's remaining shares and making PFU a wholly owned Ricoh subsidiary. The ScanSnap iX2500 we tested carries that engineering lineage forward — PCMag named it an Editors' Choice pick for best desktop document scanner for homes and small offices, succeeding the iX1600 in that spot.

Why we recognized Fujitsu
The DeskRated Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose products consistently stand out in our hands-on category reviews. Fujitsu earned it on the strength of the products below, evaluated the same way every product on this site is: bought, used at a real desk, and judged on merit.
Fujitsu products we rated highly
Fujitsu ScanSnap iX2500 Wireless Desktop Scanner
In our testing, one-pass duplex scanning at 45 pages per minute processed a 100-page double-sided document in just over two minutes, the fastest throughput we measured among the desktop scanners on our document-scanner page. Its 100-sheet automatic document feeder was the largest ADF capacity in that lineup, and the 5-inch color touchscreen let us scan to cloud, email, and network folders without a connected computer. Wi-Fi 6 plus USB-C connectivity covered both wireless multi-device setups and high-speed direct-connect workflows in our tests.
