About Epson
Epson is the trade name of Seiko Epson Corporation, headquartered in Suwa, Nagano, Japan. The company traces back to a 1942 precision workshop that became part of the Seiko watchmaking group, and adopted the EPSON name in 1975 as a shorthand for "son of electronic printer". Today its catalogue spans inkjet and laser printers, document scanners, 3LCD projectors, and photo paper alongside its broader office and imaging equipment lines.
Epson's 3LCD projector business is backed by real classroom scale and outside recognition: the company reports that more than 10 million students a day learn on Epson display solutions, and its PowerLite and BrightLink projector lines have repeatedly won Tech & Learning Awards of Excellence and TCEA Best of Show honors for education technology.

Why we recognized Epson
The DeskRated Top Brand recognition isn't paid for and can't be applied for. We award it to the brands whose products consistently stand out in our hands-on category reviews. Epson earned it on the strength of the products below, evaluated the same way every product on this site is: bought, used at a real desk, and judged on merit.
Epson products we rated highly
Epson PowerLite W49 WXGA 3LCD Projector
Built around widescreen WXGA output that matches modern laptop and Chromebook signals without the black bars older 4:3 classroom projectors introduce. A 17,000-hour ECO-mode lamp life keeps replacement costs low across a multi-year deployment, and the Moderator function connects up to 50 student devices at once with RJ-45 for IT fleet management.
